In a significant development for beach soccer in the UK, England Beach Soccer (EBSA) has announced a strategic partnership with Cornwall Football Association (FA). This collaboration aims to expand the sport in the South West region, building on the recent success of the game’s development in North Devon with Romar Sports and Exeter City Football Club.
Luke Kerr, a key figure in England Beach Soccer, recently met with Danni Peel, CEO of Cornwall FA. They were joined by Andy Rose, EBS’s Delivery Partner for the South West, to discuss the integration of beach soccer into Cornwall FA’s senior and junior programs. The discussions also included plans for an officiating support program to develop beach soccer referees in the area.
Cornwall FA has identified multiple beach locations where the sport can grow, with the backing of England Beach Soccer and working with other local County FA's to collaborate on this exciting opportunity.
Luke Kerr expressed his excitement about the new venture, saying, “EBSA is super excited to get Cornwall FA rolling out the game in a part of the country that is blessed with sand and beautiful beaches. We are in initial discussions with the Cornwall FA team on the strategy and the planning phase needed to get this off the ground across many factors.”
Cornwall CEO Danni commented to say "This is a fantastic opportunity to for us at Cornwall FA to engage in the local communities and offer a different way to get involved in football. We can't wait to make the most of the amazing beaches we have in the County and we're really excited to offer an exciting and fun opportunity to get involved in football"
The initiative has also caught the attention of local football club Plymouth Argyle, which has shown interest in the beach soccer program in North Devon and is keen to see it rolled out in South Cornwall and surrounding areas.
This partnership marks a significant step forward in the development of beach soccer in the UK, promising exciting times ahead for the sport in the Southwest region. https://www.cornwallfa.com/
